Peter Wright - Senior Coach

Peter Wright is the Head Coach and founder of the NLSC.  He is responsible for all coaching at the club and the development of our Senior and Junior fencers.

 

He began fencing in Bristol in 1986 at the Raven fencing club, later he joined Salle-Roeder (now Salle Hunt-Roeder) under the tuition of Mr Dennis Hunt, one of the Country’s leading sabre coaches.  Peter competed nationally and internationally and represented Great Britain at Junior and Senior World Cup events.  Peter has also been a member of the Senior England Sabre team and has represented Great Britain at the Fencing Master’s World Championships.  

 

Peter has also been coaching sabreurs for over 15 years. His pupils have qualified for the England Home International and Cadet, Junior and Senior World Championships.    

 

Peter became the youngest ever British coach to hold a British Academy of Fencing (BAF) and Acadamie D’Armes Internationale (AAI) Master’s Diploma in Sabre Fencing in 1998.   Peter coached at many Clubs in the South-West including Salle Hunt-Roeder, Bath Sword Fencing Club, Millfield School, Sidcot School and Marlborough College before moving to London in 1999.

 

Currently Peter is also a coach at Bedford Fencing Club.  Many of NLSC’s fencers also train at Bedford.  

 

In 2006 Peter was presented with the “Sports Coach of the Year” by Bedfordshire Sports Council for his work with local youth sabre fencers.
